Terms of Service
Last updated: June 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") are an agreement between you and J4 Miller ("ttsCast", "we", "us"), and govern your use of ttsCast — the ttsCast website and the ttsCast mobile app (together, the "Service"). The Service converts articles, web-page content, and text into podcast-quality audio you can listen to in the ttsCast app or any podcast player. By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
These Terms work together with our Privacy Policy, which explains what we collect, how we use it, and who we share it with.
1. Eligibility & Age
You must be at least 17 years old to use the Service. ttsCast includes an in-app web browser that can load arbitrary websites and therefore provides unrestricted access to the internet. You are responsible for ensuring your use is lawful where you live.
2. The Service
ttsCast lets you submit articles, URLs, web-page content, or text and receive spoken-audio versions. It includes an in-app browser and Reader Mode for finding and simplifying articles, a personal library and audio player, and an optional personal podcast feed. The Service depends on third-party providers to extract readable text and generate audio; the providers we use are listed in our Privacy Policy. We may change, add, or remove features at any time.
3. Your Account
You sign in through our authentication provider. You are responsible for activity under your account and for keeping your login secure. You may delete your account at any time from the mobile app (Settings → Danger Zone → Delete Account) or on the web at ttscast.jimmys.dev/delete-account.
4. Subscriptions, Audio Minutes & Purchases
- • What you buy. Paid plans give you an allowance of audio minutes for each billing period. The plan name, what it unlocks, the billing period, and the price are shown to you at the point of purchase in the App Store or Google Play before you confirm.
- • Auto-renewal. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends. Your store account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the new period starts.
- • Minutes reset, they don't roll over. Your audio-minute allowance resets at the start of each billing period. Unused minutes from one period do not carry over to the next.
- • Top-ups. Any one-time minute top-ups are consumable products. Once delivered to your account they are non-refundable.
- • Managing & cancelling. Billing, renewal, and cancellation are handled by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play) — not by ttsCast. Manage or cancel your subscription in your App Store or Google Play account settings. We cannot cancel a store subscription on your behalf.
5. Refunds
Because purchases are processed by Apple or Google, refunds are governed by their policies and handled through them, not by ttsCast. We do not process payments or refunds directly. One-time top-up minutes are consumable and are generally non-refundable once delivered.
6. Your Content & Acceptable Use
- • You need the rights. You may only submit articles, text, or other content that you own or have the right to convert to audio for personal use. You are responsible for respecting the copyright and terms of the sources you submit.
- • Processing by providers. To convert your content, we send it to third-party text-extraction and text-to-speech providers, as described in our Privacy Policy. By submitting content you authorise this processing.
- • No misuse. Do not use the Service for anything illegal, abusive, infringing, or harmful, and do not attempt to disrupt, overload, reverse-engineer, or gain unauthorised access to the Service.
7. Third-Party Websites & Content
The Service includes an in-app browser that loads websites you choose. ttsCast does not control and is not responsible for third-party websites, their content, or their practices. Visiting them is at your own risk and subject to their own terms and privacy policies.
8. Intellectual Property & Licence
ttsCast and its software, design, and branding are owned by us and protected by law. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the Service and to use the audio it generates from your content for your own personal, non-commercial listening. You keep whatever rights you have in the content you submit; we make no ownership claim over it.
9. Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind to the fullest extent permitted by law. Automated text extraction and speech generation can produce errors, omissions, or inaccuracies, and we do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that generated audio will be accurate or complete.
10. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, ttsCast (J4 Miller) will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, arising out of or relating to your use of the Service. Nothing in these Terms limits any rights you have under mandatory consumer-protection law that cannot lawfully be excluded.
11. Termination
You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you breach these Terms or use the Service in a way that risks harm to the Service or others. You may keep any active store subscription running until the end of its current period; managing or cancelling it is done through your App Store or Google Play account.
12. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above. Material changes will be made available through the Service or website. Continuing to use the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
13. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of South Africa, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, except where mandatory local consumer law in your country of residence applies.
