Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 2026

ttsCast converts articles and text into podcast-quality audio you can listen to in the ttsCast mobile app or any podcast player. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and how to delete it. It covers the ttsCast website and the ttsCast mobile app.

What We Collect

  • • Your email address — used to identify your account (via our login provider) and to deliver audio to your personal feed.
  • • Content you submit — the articles, web-page content, or text you send to ttsCast to be converted to audio, plus basic metadata we extract from it (title, publication, author, date, summary).
  • • Generated audio — the speech files we produce from your content.
  • • Your preferences — settings such as playback speed and your chosen voice/character.
  • • Purchases — if you buy a subscription or a minutes top-up in the app: which product you bought, when, the store's transaction ID, and your resulting minutes balance and credit history. Payment itself is handled by Apple or Google; we never see your card details.
  • • Feedback you send — any message, optional name/email, and optional diagnostic logs you choose to include when reporting a problem. We record the IP address a feedback submission came from to limit abuse.
  • • Early access and news sign-ups — if you request early access to the iPhone app or opt in to news from ttsCast, we keep your email address to contact you about it, and you can ask us to remove it at any time.
  • • Email-to-TTS (optional) — if you use the email forwarding feature, we receive and process the emails you forward so their content can be converted to audio.

The ttsCast app contains no third-party analytics, advertising, or crash-reporting SDKs, and we do not build advertising profiles. We do monitor the health of our own servers — see Natural Selection Software under Third-Party Services below. That monitoring records technical events only (which part of our system ran, how long it took, and what errors occurred); it does not receive your email, your account identity, or the articles you submit.

AI Processing

ttsCast's core feature — turning an article into audio — uses Google Cloud (Gemini). This section explains exactly what that involves.

  • • What is sent: the article content you submit, and the page content you submit when needed to process it, is sent to Google Cloud (Gemini) on our servers to produce the narration.
  • • What is not sent: we do not attach your email address, account identifiers, or any other personal-account details to Google as part of this processing. Google receives only the content needed to produce the audio — if your own name happens to appear as ordinary text in an article you submit (for example, an article about someone who shares your name), that text is treated like any other article content rather than filtered out.
  • • Before any content is sent to Google Cloud, we strip the parts of a captured page that can carry your account identity — site headers, account menus, greetings and comment forms — and remove email addresses, mail headers and tracking links from it.
  • • Retention: the resulting article text and generated audio are stored in your ttsCast account for as long as that article stays in your account.
  • • Deletion: you can delete an individual article and its audio at any time, or delete your entire account (see "Deleting Your Data" below) — either removes the corresponding data from our systems.

How the Mobile App Handles Your Data

  • • Login — you sign in through our authentication provider (Auth0). Your login tokens are kept in your device's secure storage.
  • • On-device storage — the app caches things like your article list, playlist, and bookmarks locally on your device so it works smoothly. This data stays on your device and is removed when you delete the app or your account.
  • • In-app browser & Reader Mode — the app includes an in-app web view (for example, to show our Editor's Picks page) and a client-side Reader Mode that simplifies article pages on your device. Browsing inside the in-app web view is not tracked beyond the content you choose to send to ttsCast for conversion.
  • • Playback — audio plays through the app's native player. Choosing a voice/character sends only that preference to our servers.

How We Use Your Data

  • • To produce spoken audio from the articles you submit.
  • • To store your generated audio and make it available in the app and, if you use it, your personal podcast feed.
  • • To apply your preferences (e.g. playback speed and chosen voice).
  • • To respond to feedback and fix problems you report.

Third-Party Services

We share data with a small number of service providers only as needed to run ttsCast. We do not sell your data or share it for advertising.

  • • Auth0 (Okta): authentication and login. Receives your email and login identity.
  • • RevenueCat: processes in-app purchases and subscriptions for us. Receives your account identifier, which is your email address (lower-cased), your purchase and subscription history from the App Store or Google Play, and the basic device and app details its SDK sends with a purchase (such as platform and app version). It does not receive your card details or your articles. Deleting your account deletes your RevenueCat record too.
  • • Apple App Store and Google Play billing: sell in-app subscriptions and top-ups and take payment. They hold your payment details and keep their own records of your purchases under their own privacy policies; they tell RevenueCat and us only what was bought, when, and its transaction ID.
  • • Google Cloud (Gemini): produces the narration for articles you submit — see "AI Processing" above for exactly what is and isn't sent.
  • • Mailgun: handles the optional email-to-TTS forwarding feature and delivers feedback/support messages. Receives the email content involved in those features.
  • • Railway: our hosting provider, where our servers, database, and audio storage run.
  • • Natural Selection Software: operational monitoring of our own servers. Receives technical events about our system — which component ran, how long it took, error types, and version numbers. It does not receive your email, account identity, article links, or article content.

Storage & Security

  • • Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and at rest (our managed database and audio storage are encrypted at rest).
  • • Temporary streaming files are automatically removed within about 24 hours. Your saved articles and generated audio are kept until you delete them or delete your account.

Deleting Your Data

  • • You can delete an individual article (and its audio) at any time from the app or website.
  • • Delete your entire account in the mobile app under Settings → Danger Zone → Delete Account, or on the web at ttscast.jimmys.dev/delete-account. This permanently deletes your account and login, all generated audio, submitted articles and metadata, your podcast feed, your saved preferences, your minutes balance and credit history, email-to-TTS records and feedback, and your purchase record at RevenueCat.
  • • If you can't access your account, email ttscast@jimmys.dev from the address you use with ttsCast and we'll delete your data on request. We reply within 2 business days and finish the deletion within 30 days, usually much sooner.
  • • What is kept after deletion, and why: Apple and Google keep their own records of your purchases under their own policies (they, not ttsCast, sell in-app purchases and issue the receipts, so we keep nothing for legal reasons). If RevenueCat can't be reached when you delete, we keep your email address in one internal note until the retry succeeds, then remove it. Routine server logs, which can include your email address, expire on our hosting provider's schedule. A database backup made before your deletion still holds a copy until that backup is removed; backups are access-restricted and used only to recover from a system failure. Copies of feedback and emails you sent us stay in our support mailbox, and early-access or news sign-ups made on our website are a separate list: ask and we'll delete either. Deleting your account does not cancel an App Store or Google Play subscription; cancel it in your store account first. Details: ttscast.jimmys.dev/delete-account.

What We Don't Do

  • • We don't sell your data.
  • • We don't share your data with third parties for marketing or advertising.
  • • We don't track your browsing activity beyond the content you choose to send to ttsCast.
