The ttsCast iPhone app: an article is added from a news site to Up Next, then plays as narrated audio

Works with the newspapers you already subscribe to.

Sign in to the site as usual, then send the page with our Chrome or Firefox extension or the iPhone app. ttsCast gets the article exactly as you see it, so there’s nothing to bypass.

How an article becomes a podcast episode.

  1. Send an article

Send the page you’re reading with one click from our Chrome or Firefox extension, signed in as you. On iPhone, share from Safari or open pages in the app’s built-in browser. Or paste the text if all else fails.

  2. We narrate it

Menus, captions and ads are stripped out, then a large voice model narrates it in full quality, which takes a few minutes. In a hurry? A faster voice starts streaming within seconds.

  3. Listen anywhere

Play it in the web app, or subscribe to your private feed in any podcast player you already use.

Questions people ask before their first article.

Something else? Write to support and a human answers.

Will it read articles behind a subscription?

Yes. ttsCast works with the newspapers you already subscribe to. The Chrome or Firefox extension sends the page as your browser shows it while you’re signed in, so it sees exactly what you see and bypasses nothing. The iPhone app does the same for sites you’re signed in to.

Do I need the app to listen?

No. The iPhone app is on the App Store, but you don’t need it: every account gets a private podcast feed you can add to Apple Podcasts, Overcast, Pocket Casts or any player with an “add by URL” option, and you can play every episode in the web app. Spotify doesn’t support private feeds, so it won’t work there.

How long does an article take?

Full-quality narration uses large voice models, so a finished episode takes a few minutes, depending on length. When you want to listen right away, choose a faster voice instead: it starts streaming within seconds.

Is there a Safari or Mac extension?

Not for Safari. On a Mac, use the Chrome or Firefox extension or the web app. On iPhone, the app adds ttsCast to the Safari share sheet.
